I thought I would share what it looks like. *note* the light changed the color a little bit. I am not sure what grade it is. I was going to have ICG grade this for like 40 dollars.

If the goal of certification is resale then I would strongly suggest PCGS or NGC since ICG and/or ANACS have relatively little market penetration or acceptance these days.

I LIKE it (but can't grade these)!
I agree with what Tom B said 100%. Congratulations on a nice example.

And I disagree 100% with what Tom said.
ICG is just fine as well as ANACS. Not to mention a lot cheaper and a lot easier.
I am nowhere near experienced enough with these coins to give an opinion of grade. But it is certainly nice! I would love to have one myself.

Thanks everyone!
I just thought it would be safer to have the coin inside a better holder. And it would also state the grade and prove it's real. But I guess I don't need to if I'm keeping it and not selling.

This is absolutely true in today's coin market. I know dealers who will cherry pick coins in ANACS and ICG holders, buy them for much less than a like coin in a PCGS or NGC holder, crack them out and send them in to PCGS and make a decent profit doing so. To have a raw coin slabbed by either ANACS or ICG is just throwing away future profit dollars. Ed ANA LM-3175

If you want it graded, send to NGC or PCGS or ANACs I suppose but I'd choose the first two

So all the grandstanding about buy the coin, not the plastic is just that, grandstanding then. And again I call bull. I have yet to find a serious collector who blindly paid more for a coin simply because of the letters on the slab. And anyone who sells their coin for less because some idiot dealer says I won't pay MS64 money because its from ANACS and a blind man can see it IS a 64 deserves to lose their money. And the collector who pays more for a coin only because it is in a PCGS holder with some useless green sticker deserves to lose their money that way.
So really, what is it guys? Buy the coin or not? Because what I am seeing here is buy the plastic. And the attitude that perpetuates buy the plastic.
solotime, YES, the ICG slab would be much better protection than the 2x2 and certainly does resolve any possible issue of authenticity. You say you are keeping it. So regardless of whether you drink the PCGS Kool Aide or not, ICG will fulfill your goals for this coin.

Smokeriderdon, I don't know who you are, but you seem very angry and I am not certain why. You may or may not know me, but I will let you know that I don't grandstand, I don't bull and I'm certainly not an idiot. Perhaps you have me confused with someone else. Heck, if you think you know me, look me up via the links in my signature line; I don't hide behind anonymity on these boards. My intial comments in this thread simply reflect the reality of the market that we find ourselves in. Look at market penetrance and performance for coins you see on ebay or in Heritage or Stack's-Bowers auctions. You will generally find far more PCGS and NGC certified coins than ANACS or ICG certified coins and this is even more true if one removes the old white label ANACS coins that were certified a decade or more in the past. You will also, I believe, find generally higher prices realized for essentially the same coins when these coins are in PCGS or NGC holders vs. when in ANACS or ICG holders. That is simply the market we have found ourselves in for at least a decade. It is wonderful to get on a soap box and write about buying the coin and not the holder, but the fact of the matter is that most coins get sold at one point or another and, while we cannot predict the future for the market, we can look at the present and the past. The present and past indicate that a better resale strategy would seem to indicate that a coin in an NGC or PCGS holder might be more liquid, and perhaps even more valuable, than a coin in an ANACS or ICG holder. This is just a nod to reality and nothing about Kool Aid.

Nice coin that looks to be in AU condition. If you are keeping it, there is no need to have it certified. 1912 is a common date for G$5 pieces and it will be valued on its gold content in circulated condition.
I would verify the weight and dimensions and enjoy it! It certainly deserves an Air-Tite though!
