Received this coin today. I could not possibly overstate how disappointing it is. Wow. It's easily one of the worst coins in my collection. It looks very little like the image on mint.ca and the frosting is completely ridiculous. There is virtually no detail on either the reverse or the obverse. If you're thinking of buying this coin, I recommend that you see it in person first. It's one ugly duckling IMO. In over 30 years of collecting NCLT coins, I have never returned an item to the mint. This may be the first.

Sorry to hear that... the design didn't look to promising online, but to think that it is even worse in person... thanks for the heads up!

I`ve got quite a few coins of this size, but it looks like I`m not gonna purchase this one. I`d rather just get another gold penny instead.

The only and I mean ONLY reason why I ordered this coin is because the Mint wrote this line as part of the coins description: "11th issue in this series of intricate 1/25th oz pure gold coins."
So if I don't have this coin, the collection will be incomplete. $!%##@#!$#@

I'm in the same boat. I may have to keep it just to complete the series.

the coin is way to small to properly see the details on this..the image is really confusing, as the shaman has his wing partially folded towards his face, with the goose drapped over it, very hard to make out the details properly,i too was disappointed with this coin.

It's not even just the size and lack of detail. I truly believe that the frosting on this one will make canadian_coins cry. It's just that bad.

On another forum, this coin has already been voted as the most ugly gold coin ever made, lol.

My local PO already has it together with Arctic Proof Dollar and Silver Proof set.
Need to say, that the 1/25oz gold not so realy bad. But this one I would buy, only in case if I was collecting all this series. In the Mint site it looks better.
But the Proof Dollar - beautiful And the Selectively gold plated dollar (Arctic) in the set - amazing

I saw it today at the Mint boutique store. Wasn't impressed with it at all and didn't end up buying it. My wife thought it was an owl on the reverse.

Well, you know my opinion on the modern frosting. See for yourself: 2001 vs 2013 I also posted this last year:

CC-Ottawa, I share your grief! I thought the Owl Shaman was such an ugly looking coin when I received the Master's Club release. Return it if you can, just follow your heart.
