In addition to the ridiculous price, the seller has no brains. I contacted and suggested Verdicare, EMPHASIZING that it is not considered cleaning because it, like acetone, does not react with the coin surface, and only removes foreign matter. The reply I got was that the seller doesn't believe in cleaning coins.

That's okay, seller. You try to sell that poor thing at that price, and I'll sit over here with my "junk" IHC that turned out to be FOUR DIAMONDS when I got the verdigris off (thanks, Thad!).

That cent needs a proper burial and maybe in 50 years or so the verdigris will even out and make it more "presentable." A solid G-4 for a little less than his price for this cent would have more eye appeal as a hole filler than this beast.

OK, what about this beauty?

I dug it metal detecting several years ago.
It was in much worse shape until several extended soaks in 3% Hydrogen Peroxide.

Should I try more soaking.
That is my plan at this time.
Or, is there some other way, Acetone, Specialized Coin Cleaners, ETC?

The re-sized pik does not show so much of the detail.
But I am fairly sure this coin would not grade outside of G4, perhaps a bit better:)

Thanks,

nwdetectorist
