So I have a 3-legged Buffalo nickel set aside at the local coin shop. So when I bring it home, I'm not sure what to do with it. A great coin like that, I don't want it to live in a cardboard 2x2. It's not slabbed currently. Capital plastics makes holders that are labeled 1909 S VDB, but no holders labeled 1937-D 3-Legged Buffalo.

What do you guys do with your big coins?

Something like this would be funny, but I'd probably get tired of it:

I prefer Intercept shields but I believe I may be the minority.

Depending on the condition it may be worth getting it graded. There are some nice wooden display boxes for both raw and graded coins. Either way I would put it in at least an air-tite rather than just a flip like you said.

Capital Plastics does make a couple of nickel holders you could consider, one titled Nickel, and one titled Buffalo 5c. They don't make any holder with a title for error coins that I'm aware of but, you could have one custom labeled for your nickel.

If you want to protect it, yet keep it raw, I would suggest the frosted plastic 2x2 holders that Whitman sells (or did sell) and these cost about 25-cents each. Alternatively, you could buy a pack of Kointains and get 25-shells for around two dollars. I prefer Kointains for my raw coins, but understand that most don't. Of course, there is still the option of certification. Regardless, I keep all my coins in a safe deposit box and enjoy them by having quality images on my computer.

I've noticed I am becoming more comical in my recent posts.
I wonder how people receive it.

I like the Capital Plastics Holders for special displays of rare coins. I have a quite a few myself. You could get one of the large 3-4" squares and add your own text, I think Capital sells the letters seperately for just this purpose. Or just find a local plastics company to make you a holder of your own.

For now, I have it in this air-tite display case. Once I find my silver Sharpie, you can write on one side of the velour card that holds the air-tite capsule.
