Hello guys, I would like to show you a beautiful ruppe. But there is a flower on the reverse side that I don't know.

At 12 o'clock postion, it is Indian lotus, a national emblem of the country.
At the right and left sides, the three flowers are Tudor rose (for England), Shamrock (for Ireland) and Thistle (for Scotland).

Who know what the flower is at 6 o'clock position?(Chrysanthemum?)Do you know what it stands for? Thank you for answering. Henry

Nice! Indian silver circulated less than base metal coins, so these days, they turn up on average, in better condition, date for date.
As an Australian, I have a few rupees covering the last four centuries.
I don't have any roopoos! (skats, if you like).

jcmworld, thank you for your reply. You state 4 kinds of flowers but there are five on the back side.

Is lotus the same plant with water lily?

12 o'clock - lotus?

6 o'clock - water lily?

Can you confirm it to me?

Top and bottom are the same flower, just different perspective. Lotus=water lily.

I surmise that Rose = England, Thistle = Scotland, Lotus = India

Clover = ?

If it was a shamrock it would be Ireland.

Rest in Peace

The top and bottom flowers do look the same to me, but I have to intrude with water lily does not equal lotus. As owner of a water garden business selling both, they most definitely are not the same. Different species, different plant families, different growing habits, different look. It's hard to tell from an image that stylized, but I think it is supposed to be a lotus flower, not a lily. I am basing this mostly on the buds and seed pods shown next to the flowers, though the buds could be either.

Yes. Lotus flower representing Buddha. The top is viewed from the side the bottom is viewed from the top. The other three are England, Scotland and Ireland.

Lotus and water lily look a bit similar by their morphology for those outliers; Chinese people also have this mis-understanding. I made a small research from Wikipedia and prove jgfindring is correct in topic. Thank you all! Henry
