Without revealing the auction, I have an opportunity to get a *Very* double struck greek coin with no bids. Its £1.00 first bid and £6.00 shipping. Do I go for it?

Bottom-Feeding-Question

Its got provenance too from a collector who has passed away. He has other bids and I'm not sure if he combines shipping - I've sent my question, I hope he gets back to me, he has a couple of lots I want.

Almost looks like a Nabataean coin. Most of those have two faces on the obverse.

The reverse is Zeus seated facing left, I couldnt find a Nabataean coin with that reverse.

Not double struck but a horrible sand cast trying to be something like Antiochos VII / Cleopatra Thea joint rule.

Yes Ben, as maridvnvm states, it is a cast copy. When I looked at the photo I thought it was odd, note the profusion of "cast pores" on the surface.

Phew - thanks for the heads up! Puts me in doubt about his other lots.

Not sure where the seller is but £6.00 shipping seems a bit OTT also.

This could certainly be true but its also a favourite bit of spiel used by dodgy sellers.
