I was coin roll hunting tonight and ran across a 1966 Jefferson nickel that had the initials FS (at least that is what they looked like under the mag glass) under the shoulder on the obverse side. Is this common? I have been through a boat load of nickels and this is the first I have seen like this. Maybe I just missed it all along, but not likely.

hi. you just missed it I guess every nickle from 1966 to 2005 I think had the initials there . Then they were moved to the back where the mint mark was before 1965

Correct, considering that the obverse was no longer his design, but one by Jamie Franki.
