1864 Large Motto Proof 66 Red PCGS A pretty tough coin to find, and one of my favorite coins of all time.

Mine is an Ancient Greek coin, a silver didrachm from the island city-state of Rhodes, circa 340-305 BC.

Mine is the Eagle from the back of my 1846-O Liberty Seated dollar. I plan on changing it to this as soon as I find the right Indian Eagle.

I'm not seeing signatures. EDIT: Never mind, it was turned off. Wonder why I did that?

I chose this 1664 Charles of Sweden silver 2 mark coin, not for any particular reason other than I like the androgynous look of the portrait, and it would not be a generic image. Plus the fact that it came from a local estate auction which suggests it may have arrived in the USA via an early settlers' ship. I also wanted something to express my fascination with the older methods of coinage, before mechanization took over the process.

Not everyone uses a coin for the avatar. oih82w8, myself and I'm sure there are more. Here's mine:

Nice bike mds308!! Well I finally bought a nice example of the coin I've wanted as my avatar, I just emailed Susan the photo today so hopefully it's changed soon But even though its not changed yet I figured I'd post it as it will be soon! I searched long and hard for an example of this coin that I just couldn't live without so I thought it appropriate to use it as my avatar. I'm from Mass, I went to Zoo-Mass.. I mean U-Mass , home of the Minutemen! And also Concord has special meaning to me (I'd rather not get into that though, not the best of memories but something I never want to forget) so I wanted an example of this coin I would be proud of.. So here it is.. (The first photo is the one I requested as my avatar, I just thought I'd post the reverse as well)

mds308, please tell me you own and ride that piece of art. My avatar: Doesn't gain much detail presented in high resolution, does it?

Dave, Glad you ended with piece of ART. Had me worried for a second. It's a 2005 Heritage with a NON Harley paint job. You can tell Harley didn't paint it because there's no orange-peel. It has almost 30,000 miles. She's no garage queen but she's babied and pampered. I bought a silver dollar today and all I could think of was your avatar. What a coincidence. I have your coin relative equivalent. Only 24.6 grams of 90 percent Ag goodness from 1925.

That coin was a gift from vermontensium. It will be my avatar everywhere from now on, and will be buried with me. Along with a couple of others.
