I often look for coins on Craigslist or Kijiji here in Canada but, I have never been able to find any great deals.
Post your best finds from Craigslist or Kijiji on this form. I would love to see what deals that other coin collectors have been able to find. Also, post any coin finding tips that you may want to share.

There's some good deals to be had on Craigslist if you weed through the scams/crazy priced adds. Sooo many people on there offer the people selling less than what its worth so they dont sell.. if you offer a fair price for you as well as the seller you might get a good deal. Another good idea is post an add yourself saying what our interested in and how much (about) you pay.. As I said there's SOOO many people that do that but the prices they are "offering" are below spot, and they try to convince people they "pay the best", and that they'll get less elsewere.. For those I usually just post an add calling them out on there rediculious prices telling people to avoid them... The other thing is you have to be quick, most all good deals get scooped up fast! I've picked up nice AU Morgan's for spot. O, and check the barter section.. I've traded some old things I've no longer needed for nice coins.. Best was a NGC 2007w MS-69 ASE early release for an old hunting bow I had from the early 90's that I wouldn't have gotten $15 dollars at a sporting goods store for trade in... But it was worth more to the guy I traded than the ASE was... But my best find was a 1861 thrime (silver 3 cent) I'd say in AU, but by no means less than EF-45 for $50.. (It's posted in classic US grading now, although the pics are horrible due to the small size) the guy was asking over $100, and had his number posted, I called him as soon as the add went up and had pics sent, offered $50 thinking he would meet somewhere in the middle and he thought about it for about a half hour, called back and I went to meet him that day.. Also got a nice 1937d (natural) rainbow toned buffalo in AU for $5 from him. Keep hunting and good luck!

Last summer a guy was selling his silver hoard, bars, rounds, coins, 5oz pucks. He wanted $40,000 for the whole thing. If you went through it piece by piece , it was probably worth it. One of the things he had was 20 Libertads. I couldn't afford much but asked if he would sell a handful of Libertads. I love Libertads. After hemming and hawing about how he really wanted to sell it all at once and he really didn't want to piece it out. Finally he said he would pick out five of the nicest ones for me. I got five mid to high MS Libertads for $155 dollars; Two dollars over spot each. I would much rather buy from craigslist than ebay any day

As OP said, I've never found a deal on Craigslist. Everything I've come across has been overpriced or made me feel like I may get mugged in an alley.

I seem to be having the same problem, everything is overpriced. If someone has the skill to post something on Craigslist, they can probably look up the value too.

I am yet to find a "deal" on craigslist. Every time I stumble upon any time of coins, the owner thinks they are worth double what they are. No luck yet

It is all perseverance. If you just check the new listings, everyone thinks they are going to get rich off of their junk. They think that " gee I bought this ASE from HSN two years ago for $139.00, it must be worth at least $200.00 by now You have to follow it daily , find the guy who has had the same ad up for two months and who you know at that price has gotten zero interest. And give them a fair deal. Most people who post, need to move their stuff. You just have to be there when they decide that this is what it is worth. I have gotten many things by ,not being an obnoxious lowballer, but leaving a fair offer with a " I really feel that this is what it is worth, and will be willing to pay this if you decide to sell " I have had people call me months later to see if I am still interested.

You hit it right on the head Denco7! I'm on craigslist a few times a day.. good deals go QUICK! Offer a fair price for both of you, as I said, most of the offers they get are extremely low, from people trying to get over on the unsuspecting.. So if something's been up for a while make a fair offer. Then again, if someone actually posts a great deal you have to be quick.. I'm in prosess of getting 2 really nice large cents for a great deal! We'll see if I get them.. still working on it. And also have a guy selling high grade PCGS slabbed Morgan's and classic commemorative's for a really fair price! Under numismedia, and lower than ebay.. So I am in the prosess of working on a deal with him for a group of the ones I need too...

I wonder why people don't just sell their coins on ebay. They would probably get a much higher price.

Obviously you have never sold anything on ebay. ebay - auction fees - PayPal fees - shipping costs = less than craigslist

Don't you find that people think there coins are worth much more than they actually are? Isn't that why you see those crazy priced BIN listings on ebay? They should at least investigate their value if they want to sell them and nothing wrong with giving someone a deal so they sell faster.
