Bought this from a local dealer for catalogue value. Less than $15 with tax. KM used to irritate me, but now after digging into this series (Mexico colonial 1/2Rs) a bit I have come to appreciate their off the wall catalogue prices.

KM lists the 1734 and 1734/3 both at $12 in VG and $25 in fine by my old catalogue. Gilboy rates the 1734/3 as (R3 11-25 pieces known). I bought this at KM list for VG.

Nice, prominent 4/3 on this coin! I'll have to look at Mexico coins more closely. I guess I've worried about fakes, but I doubt they're copying overdates?

Because I collect Mexican coins I am totally concerned about fakes. I am sure overdates are copied. Have handled enough of the 1/2 reals to have a feel for them. I think this one is authentic. Saw a fake 1/2 R once but it was pretty bad.
