Just getting around to some recent purchases. I have trouble grading the AU to MS grades on these.

Your thoughts on grade? Thanks

Incuse coins are often graded by the fields which are the highest relief surfaces on this type of coin.

Your coin looks AU+ to me. AU55 if pinned down to a number. The luster appears subdued with slight friction apparent. The surfaces look good with minimal contact marks. It is a nice coin that falls a bit short of MS IMHO.

I find incuse designs are the hardest to grade, for sure from a photo, this is the type of coin one really needs to be able to turn and pivot under a light to look for the slight rub areas and broken luster that can't show up from a static photo alone.

From this single photo I could go from AU53 to MS64.
