Well, I did get told by someone on ebay that the bank note
that I had listed, was not a birthday note. The serial number
on it was: AUS1985109. So, what qualifies as a birthday note?
Thanks so much for your help.

Was it a US buyer? Some people (especially US buyers)don't consider Canadian banknotes as true Birthday notes because they only have 7 digits (US banknotes have 8 digits). In these peoples opinion, your note would have to have one more digit, such as AUS19851009 or AUS19850109.

I don't see a problem with your Birthday note.....then again I'm not a note collector.

I can both sides of the issue;

a) I can see that the S/N on your note could be read as Jan 9 1985, Sep 1 1985 or Oct 9 1985

b) U.S. Notes have the eight digits in their S/N

Sounds like whoever "informed" you has their "blinders" on and can see only "one" thing. If his/her perception is not the same as yours...then you are wrong (in the informers opinion, not mine).

What would be really cool is if you found someone with the initials AUS, although a name beginning with "U" may be hard to find.

I would say "thank you for your insight" and "let it go" on the mindset of the "informer".

I always do year, month, day. For files on computers it is way easier for organization.

hard for canadian notes to be a birthday note since you can't cover all 12 months.

as for being told off on ebay... sounds like the messenger has WAY too much time on their hands

I often wonder what people who have too much time on their hands did before there was an internet?
Rest in Peace

International Scientific notation would agree with Middross YYYY/MM/DD

Still, with my BD both day and Month are less than 10, I'd be happy to find one that was even close.

haha @54

i do agree with this being a birthday note, but can see both sides of the argument. that being said, the messenger has no business stating his opinion.
