I was recently at my local coin shop in Ontario looking through the USA coins. This dealer did not put the mint marks on most of the US dimes! I found a 1901 Barber for sale for $2.50 so, I inspected it closer and found an S mintmark on the obverse!! Not till later did I realize that the 1901-S 10 cent is a key date. From now on, I am looking at the coins closer and not always trusting what the 2X2 says.

Of course the dealer did not put the mint mark on U.S. dimes. The mint did. Nice score.

If I am not mistaken the mint mark is on the reverse of the Barber dimes under the wreath. Quote: From now on, I am looking at the coins closer and not always trusting what the 2X2 says. Good idea! Is the mint mark on the side with the wreath that says ONE DIME?

Sorry I should have posed that question to inventor719. He said the s was on the obverse. I was just looking to see if maybe it had something funny going on.

I am sorry, I did not mean to say obverse. The mintmark is on the reverse
