The previous record was 3 silvers and a buffalo. This one blew it out of the water. 6 Liberty nickels in one box . Pictures to come. Couldn't wait to tell the world and my phone doesn't post pics.

I am new to the coin community forums, actually a new member. I am interested in roll hunting at banks for half dollars. Could someone please direct me to the correct forum that may discuss this, actually how to do this? I watched a you-tube video, and currently have a small to medium size coin collection. In the video this collector gets 3 large boxes and looks at the edges of the coins. Which I believe I can do this, and have done this. my questions are more of etiquette.
My questions are: 1.Do banks usually carry a large amount of rolls? 2.How many should I be asking for? 3.I have heard some banks are reluctant to help, as if I am asking a lot of them is this true. 4. I imagine I would have to re-roll these coins and possible put my name and phone number on them. (this may be old school)?
any ideas would be helpful. thanks.

answers, based on my expierence 1. Depends on city size. Mine has just enough on hands for merchants. 2. Boxes of 1/2s are $500. 3. Yes, some banks want 3.50 to order (mine did, so adios) 4. I never put my name or anything of the ID stuff on dumps. This was very common in the '70s. I believe U.S. bank even charges for the return.

thanks for the reply. At my credit union they probably would get me a roll if they had to, but I know they would not have a quantity on hand. I will probably go to different banks talk with somebody important and see how they handle my request, thanks for the info on the personal name on the rolls, it has been 30 years since I last deposited rolls. when one 'dumps" coins these are rolls that I have made? versus a bag of coins? I'm thinking on a 3 box search. I don't care for the charge of the transaction, and if charged they can re roll them, probably another charge. thanks.
