Interesting map coin, the design on the coin looks almost mechanical.
As most Australians know Walter Burley Griffin designed the town layout that Canberra has.
He also designed incinerators!

For the benefit of American friends here in the CCF, he was an American landscape architect.

That's probably one of the nicest looking decimal circulating commemorative coins in Australia (if not the World) that I've seen. Another nice one is the 2001 Queensland 20 cent piece.

But funny that this guy...makes incinerators (to melt the planchet), puts the map on the planchet & then they burn the map in the incinerator. That's the life cycle...or a cycle of life?

The Willoughby Tip incinerator was one he designed,i lived a few hundred yards away for 30 years, just down the road from Channel 9.The council was going to demolish it when they closed the tip(early 1970's)but people power(Greenies do some good things) saved it and it was turned into a Restaurant!.

Ha...,amongst the locals when it first opened the joke was that the specialty of the house was 'Ratatouille',30 years before the Movie. If you saw the size & number of rats that inhabited the incinerator & tip you would know why the locals never ate there.
...and,as a kid I found a tin of pennies at the tip,so we're back(nearly)on track.

... the "Centenary of Canberra" coin looks good .

However, looking at the picture provided by CoinStew gave me a funny "first impression" . Looked to me like the inside of a machine - for example a watch - that is somewhat broken
