Hi everyone,

I have come across a $100 australian note today with serial number
BB 10375375

I've only really started looking into coins and know little about notes,
I believe this is a 2010 year "repeater serial" note.

The note itself is in uncirculated condition.
I will upload a picture when I get to a computer

Can anyone with notes experience please advise me on what type of value this note has? My only reference at the moment has been ebay and other repeater notes have been asking 300-400% markup on the actual note value (without an actual selling history) so I believe this is quite high.

Any feedback would be appreciated. Thankyou

I would say about $105. Repeaters arent that sought after and as your note isn't a first or last prefix there isn't much value there

The other problem is that it is a high face value note.

Making $5 over the odds is good on a $5 or $10 note, less so when it's a $100...

Being uncirculated helps but there wouldn't be much of a premium for repeater

If it was a note I was interested in (but I'm not, sorry), in strict UNC, I'd pay $125.
It's got an added benefit of being a double letter.
If the serial was 357357, that would make it nicer. (3 plus 2 = 5 plus 2 = 7).
Still repeaters are as scarce as radars, but generally not collected too much. I'm not even going to pretend that I know how many radar collectors collect repeaters. I guess it's one of those things you get thrown into when you find your first radar repeater (e.g 353353)...& maybe then you get hooked?

Love it. After just getting hypnotised. I figured that I could apply that formula to a few of my notes.
JC98 999990
Last Last High High...High High High High High No
AA04 000004
First First No Med...No No No No No Med
My BK98 888889 & BK 98 888888
BK High High...High High High High High High & BK High High...High High High High High High

So does that mean?
0 = No
1-3 = Low
4-6 = Med
7-9 = High

Thanks for all the advice, I will attempt to sell for $125 and see how it goes, still focusing on building a range of coins unless I stumble upon a rare banknote.

From the info provided are there any suggestions on another $100 serial I have, the number is:

AI 96171171 - $100

Would this be a repeater + radar?
The condition is not as good as the BB I originally enquirer about. Although it is still in very good condition (I'm not up to date with correct grading terms)

Matt, I see you like your $100 notes. The AI96 171 171 is a radar repeater. I'll give you stats about the commonality of radars/repeaters.
In general 999,999 print runs:
Radars 900 in 999,999; so 1 in 1,111
Repeaters 900 in 999,999; so 1 in 1,111
Radar repeaters however are 90 in 999,999; so 1 in 11,111

As for condition, UNC is a very hard grade to find a lot of the time, to me an UNC note will not even have a tiny indent.
As for pricing on $100 notes, there isn't as much percentage value wise because people still aren't collecting $100's. As for value. I paid $200 for an EF $100 note with an 8 digit radar 99666699.
But for a stict UNC a radar might be worth $150, Repeater might be worth $115 (revised), whereas a radar repeater might be worth $180.

It's all about finding a buyer for the note. On ebay, if they can find a buyer for that price then so be it, it may take them 3 months to sell.

Supply vs. Demand

I have some notes in my collection which aren't UNC, but some of those notes prized circulated notes include;
A last prefix ladder radar 123321
A last prefix test note ladder radar 765567
Standard CG06 123456
A first prefix solid serial 777777 (I purchased)
Two of my last purchases were (not purchased too much above face from guys on the forum):
A first prefix high serial AA09 999448
A first prefix double ladder AA07 050607

Dealers charge what I would consider overly high amounts for radars, auctions are a great place to buy. Circulation can work, but takes lots of time, money & patience. A large portion of my collection was circulation notes, but there's always note you need to buy.

Do you noodle the notes?

The link below will give you ebay results:

Thanks a lot Goatieman, that was very useful with the stats,
It was not so much noodled as just browsing the notes while at work,

I've spent most noodling through coin and can say its tank quite a hold lookin for rarities, I just figured checking serials may stumble upon a winner,

Perhaps I will focus on the $20s or $50s as to increase the % of value compared to the $100s, although on the upside I have 1 bid for $125 on my first mentioned BB repeater, will be happy to put the profit towards further noodling
