OK, here's my 1st question. Found a 1 mil Arizona tax token. Research indicates these were used from the '30's until mid 60's and are not worth much. So do museums look for such things to be donated or are they so common as to basically be trashed? Thanks,

Not sure really on the value or if it's common but it's of value to someone. Nothing is trash. Welcome to the Forum!

Well, trash was probably the wrong word. :) It was found when my great aunt passed away and my mother would hold onto it if it were valuable but would prefer to donate it to a museum or give it to a grandchild who might wish to save it if not. (Obviously it could cause problems if it were given to one kid and turned out to be worth more than a few dollars.) Does that make sense?

I collect them as an adjunct to my world coin collection. I'm not after every type, just one from each state (OFES?) that issued them.

There are two basic books on SALES TAX TOKENS, one lists state issues (like this one) for $4.95, the other is exceedingly comprehensive (and at $49.95, better be!). The AZ piece should RETAIL for about $.25 to .50 in excellent condition from an exonumia dealer (plus postage). MOST of the state issues are exceedingly common, ie, worth about .25-.50/each. When you get into the private issues, the prices go up, sometimes to the $100-250 range. I collect IL Sales Tax tokens, and I believe I have the finest collection...
