I wasn't around the first time it happened but I can't wait until it happens again. Thanks chrycopaul. Nice looking coin/medal/token that you have there.

Very cool! I was at Disneyland when they landed and remember seeing it on a big screen in Tomorrowland.

I remember, I was 9 and watching the landing on our family's 20" black and white set with rabbit ears. I was complaining about the reception and my father said something like, "They're on the moon for crying out loud, what do you expect?"

With today's technology we could probably accomplish everything they did with robots. It wouldn't be the same though. JFK said in 1961, ""I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the Moon and returning him safely to Earth." Amazingly, we did it. Stop and think about how nervous those guys must have been, going where no man has gone before.

Woodstock was 2 weeks later. Amazing.

Nice post chrycopaul.

I was scratching up money to go to Woodstock ... fell woefully short! From Oregon, I could have gotten as far as Idaho.
Rest in Peace

I was listening to The Doors, had disdain for almost everything, spent a lot of time trying to "leave the earth" without a spaceship but none the less was swept up in the dream of space travel. I would have bet anything that by the time I was 50 I would have already made several trips to outer space. Oh well I can still keep dreaming! Mike

Mike,

I'd have sworn you've been to space and back ... you even have the cosmic helmet to prove it! (See Mike's Avatar)
