I am new to this "vamming" and have only recently began searching my morgans. I have found an 1882-p VAM 28, early die state (misplaced 8 in denticles, dot 2, gouges near stars 1&2). My only resource has been the vamworld website and it states that there are only 3 of this "extremely elusive EDS" known. Its an I-3, r-6. I have not been able to find any more information on tis variety other than the limited info on that webpage. The coin is currently raw but I suspect it would grade at least high au, possibly ms but maybe I'm just hoping :). Does anyone have any iidea what this "extremely elusive" variety would sell for?

If you put it in front of VAMmers, I suspect it would fetch a considerable premium. What that number is, is tough to estimate. Doubled value, maybe more?

Well that's a disappointing figure! "Extremely elusive" variety doesn't necessarilly equate to dollars I suppose. I have been enjoying going through my morgans and determining the VAM but if a coin like that would carry a heavy premium I would definately consider selling it and buying a rarer date or something as the VAM attribution does not mean that much to me. I was considering having it slabbed but obviously it wouldn't be worth it. Maybe that's why there's only 3 known examples? Its not worth getting it slabbed? Thanks for the feedback, if anyone else has anything else to add please let me know! Thanks!

The problem is not one of rarity, it's one of demand. The enthusiasm of those who do VAMming tends to mask the fact that they're a pretty small minority among Morgan collectors. Yes, that number is increasing daily, but the number of people who are dedicated to acquiring as many VAM numbers as possible, across all dates, can probably be counted on your fingers and toes. Don't forget, that amounts to thousands of coins. And as rare as it is, your coin isn't in a high-demand class like 1878's, E clashes and the like.

I AM THE DISCOVERER of this VAM.1882P VAM 28...However I am do not know what others have sold this VAM for...or that there is more than 2 as NICO emailed me to confirm my earlier questions for an unknown VAM at the Vamworld site I had placed......AND
URGED me to place and send it to Leroy as I> had posted it first../
I DO KNOW that his coin was SOOOOON...sold at a Heritige auction
which I haven't investigated price wise....
My endevor was not for money7, which has been exploited...but for the experience and the learning curve of vamming, which I hope those of you will understand...... I posted VAMIT on this site while my computer was reliable.......
Those of you who know me as G...will understand...

AS for your 1882 VAM 28... to the world ov VAMMING
