Hey everyone, I'm back yet again, with another fork in the road! a few years back when I was all about collecting high graded coins, I found a beautiful ICG Canadian 10c 1952 graded MS-65. this coin is absolutely beautiful but doesn't fit in my collection at this point. i did pay $40.00, but soon realized why I got it that cheap, it is VERY hard to sell ICG Canadian slabbed coins, I have listed it on ebay for $90.00, then $80.00, then $70.00$, then $60.00$, then $50.00 but I stopped there, I can't take a loss on this coin. i guess I have 2 options, keep it, or crack it open and send it with my coins to ICCS, I think it could potentially grade at MS-65 but if it grades at mint state 64 it will trend for about 59% less. basically costing me 20$ to get it graded, any opinions would be appreciated!

Are those marks on the holder or on the coin, if on the coin I would think it would only grade MS-64 at best its hard to tell from a picture. ICCS grades 5 and 10 cent coins hard

go to a coin show, try to trade it in for 40.00 on a coin that you want.

the marks are on the slab, I will go to the 3 coin dealers in town, one of them being Colonial acres and ask them to grade it, I will put a stickey note over the grade and get their honest opinions

I have purchased MS-65 ICG coins on line ebay and different Internet Auctions houses in the past only to be very disipointed when they arrived, I will never ever own one again unless it is in my hand to look it over first. Good luck jakedacc I hope you do well

Hi, it could be that eBayers can't view the coin properly due to the marks on the slab. If it's possible to break the slab open, then you could sell it as a raw coin on ebay (with nice clear photos). Not sure it there's a risk in damaging the coin by cracking it open though...

I have two ICG slabbed coins I purchased from ebay. 1916 cent (ms63) and 1942dime (ms63) Their grades seem appropriate, although the dime looks like it may be off, could be the toning throwing me off though. Jake, try asking coin stores for a trade thats equal to $40, or maybe just settle for exchanging it for a nice silver maple :P

That's a nice coin and I hope you get the transaction you're looking for. Personally, I think you might be best off selling it raw.
But on another matter... I find it incredible that people refuse to take a loss of even a few bucks, as though it matters what happened in the past. On the other hand, far be it for me to presume that the difference between $45 and $55 is not critical. For all I know, maybe you really can't afford a loss on that coin. Sorry if that's truly the case.
I guess I'm just saying that (IMHO) refusing to lose on a purchase is irrational. Rather than directed at the OP, this is a reminder instead to all the bullion/coin speckers who suddenly forget to adjust their "sell" prices when the market falls. (If the market is soft for my coin, the *market* must be wrong, not me!)

I would take it out of the slab and sell it raw. No need to pay any extra grading fees. If you do grade it, go for ICCS.

I dont think you would get the $40 your looking for RAW on ebay....I would personally sell it in the slab with a 99 cent no reserve. Get a couple of bidders involved and hope for a war at he end.
