2 stuiver. I do not believe that these coins circulated in the Colonial U.S.. The lion dollar that did circulate had stopped being produced about 90 years earlier. By the time this coin was minted the Dutch influence in North America had diminished drastically the main silver coinage circulating in the colonies would have been Spanish Reales.

United Provinces, Holland. AR 2 Stuiver, 1790. Very, very badly ceaned. I wouldn't give more than $5 for it. These are fairlty common. No connection with colonial anything on this one, it was a homeland issue not a Dutch Colonial issue.
Don't be decieved by the sellers saying "New York Penny" or other such drivel, the VOC (East India Company) issues were meant for circulation in what is now Indonesia and have absolutely nothing at all to do with NY or the GWC (West India Company) or the New Netherland colony. It's false advertising and is downright deceptive, meant for people to believe that $5 common coins are worth much more than they are. I repeat, don't be decieved by these decepive practices.

Could have circulated in colonial Australia, as there was a coin shortage till the 1850,s.
