At a garage sale I found two coins which appear exactly like the gold 1885 S Liberty Head (With Motto) Half Eagle, however, my coins(?) are silver in appearance. Is this an actual coin, or could it be a reproduction? If a reproduction, how can I tell? I am not a coin collector, just have an interest in old coins.

Any insight would be appreciated.

!

They are probably reproductions but the best way to confirm that is to post pictures.

Cheers!

If silver looking, it's a reproduction.

It would be great to see images of these. Even if reproductions, could be interesting.

You could test them with a magnet (works for Canadian coins) the silver are not magnetic but, metals such as steel and nickel are magnetic.

Could still be silver and hold some value. The first thing when I read your post was that they might be silver rounds
