Missed it by one year . Looks like a small strike through on the birds right wing. No luster. High XF maybe low AU. But let's see what the experts say.

EF45 just a touch shy of AU but too much chatter to make it IMO.

I agree with EF-45+. Just shy of AU IMHO.

I agree with EF-45. I could have graded it an AU if I could see more mint luster. Nice one!

Thanks for all your input!
Is it worth sending in to PCGS? Would you? It's in my Dansco now... Only 20 more coins to finish the date and mint set! To bad they're all the expensive ones.

Sending in depends on what you plan to do. For keeping or selling? They do well on ebay slabbed. Are your other Morgans graded? Where are you SsuperDdave? I've put up the Bat Signal.

Can you post a picture of the small divot on the right wing?

I plan to finish, and possibly sell it complete someday. None of my other Morgans are graded. This is probably the rarest, with a better grade. All my others rare Morgans are vf25-35.
If you all thought it would grade au50, I think I would've sent it in.

Nice pic. I don't see any displaced metal. My guess would be a strike through. I love errors but I don't think this one would carry any additional premium. It's still a great coin for your collection (like you don't already know this).

This is actually a kinda pricey issue; get it into a PCGS XF40 slab, you've got a $250 coin. XF45 (which is where I think it belongs, in terms of details) places it over $400. I have my worries about what the 3 reverse dings - wing, eagle's right leg and tailfeathers) will cause a grader to think, though. Not to mention worries about surface originality.

Thanks for your comments!
SsuperDdave, I also wonder about whether the coin has been cleaned. I do know this coin has been in a safe for over 30 years. So, if cleaned, it's old!
It seems it's not worth sending away.
Thanks again!

SsuperDdave, Thanks for jumping in. I guess you believe the larger mark on the right wing is PMD? The other two look more like dings and the one on the leg looks folded in. It's hard to define the dings on my screen. I'm a rookie and the first to admit it. Thanks again.
