Planchet lamination problem sure shows on this silver War Nickel. Sometimes I've noticed "lines" or dark/light striations parallel to the flaw, and I can just make this out on my poor image of the Reverse. Sometimes this shows all the way through which makes sense for a "structural" problem runs through the thickness of the metal.

Yes, this cuses weak areas on the planchet, mostly due to the difficulty w/using the silver in the alloy. War nics are
famous for this.
