I recently came into possession of 28 Australian Penneys (some duplicate dates) as follows. (I'm sure there's nothing obviously unusual or rare in this lot, but wonder if there's anything I should look for anyway.)

1919
1921
1922
1924
1927
1933
1934
1935
1936
1937
1938
1939
1940
1941
1942
1943
1944
1947
1958
and a commemorative coin...1066-1966.

TIA

Australia didn't make a commemorative penny for the 900th anniversary of the Norman invasion... but the island of Jersey did. That coin will be from Jersey, not Australia.

Australia didn't make any pennies in 1937; that one will be from somewhere else, too. Do all the other pennies actually say "Australia" on them? If it doesn't seem to say any country and just has a seated lady with a trident and the words "ONE PENNY", then they're British.

If all the other dates are Australian pennies, there's nothing that stands out to me as being scarce, unless they're unusually well-preserved.

There are a few 1919 varieties, one of which is scarce; it's complicated to explain what to look for; if you posted a pic, the experts here could tell you which variety you've got. Some of the other dates have mintmarks/privy marks that are a little more expensive than others.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

Thanks, Sap. I got these as a group from a local coin shop. There's no reason to believe that they are anything special, they just came along with a collection from an estate several years ago, and no one has expressed any real interest in them. I just couldn't pass up buying them for a few bucks...nice to have something a bit different to look at and show off some day. As you might imagine, Australian coins are a bit unusual in Bismarck, North Dakota...way up on the northern edge of the central US. I figure that most of these came home with a US serviceman after WWII because the 1943's (there's three or four of them) all have lots of luster and appear lightly circulated.

I don't have them handy (I'm at work)...but I'm fairly certain that the '37 does have a seated figure with a trident.

I'm leaving on a business trip early tomorrow, but will try to post pics of the 1919 before I go.

Again, thanks for taking the time to respond.

If you could post pics of the 24 and 27 obverses as well, please.
There is a scarcer variety in those as well.
