New to coin hunting just came across this penny and was wondering if this is a error coin it looks like the memorial is in the background behind Lincoln and the coin appears to be shifted to the right with a ridge on the left on the back it has some kind of line from the two front coulombs down through the one cent area any information on this would be cool thanks for your time

I'm not good with errors at all, but it looks like it could be a die clash error. Could be wrong though..See what the error experts here say. Lol

to CCF. What you have is a very nice die clash obverse and reverse as well as a MAD "misaligned die" John1

Wowsers, that is a monster clash Die clashes are fairly common but they usually just show isolated traces of a clash instead of a majority of the design on both sides like your example. That is one of the best Lincoln clashes I have ever seen. The rim on the obverse was affected by a misaligned die strike(MAD), the two dies were slightly misaligned with each other when the coin was struck. MADs are common unless the misalignment was so severe that portions of the peripheral design are missing.

Very nice find! And with John1 - put that coin somewhere safe. It doesn't have a lot of wear and it has nice color.

I will do that for sure is something like this worth getting graded and certified if so do you have a place that does it or is it too costly for a penny

The expense of having it graded would outweigh the value of the coin,IMHO. John1

That is one heck of a clash! A word of advice: I lost my CRH 1983 DDR because of sloppy storage, so put it somewhere safe that you'll remember!

That is awesome! I'll certainly have to keep my eyes peeled on the change I get. Congratulations on the find!

I don't think it really matters if you get it slabbed or not. It is expensive to do and they charge extra for error coins.
That being said -- I had a couple of coins slabbed strictly to keep them safe. I have a sentimental attachment to them. One of them was an error coin I found over forty years ago. There's just something about that first find....anyway, in that light, the expense didn't seem to be that great.
