I saw this 57 Franklin on ebay and thought it doesn't look real. I was wondering if someone may have plated it to get it that lusterous.

In my opinion, it look too lusterous. I don't know what a genuine 1950 Proof Franklin looks like, so I may be wrong, but it just looks too shiney like it has been plated. I hope others can give you a better opinion.

For only $24? I thought they went much higher than that.

Perhaps his camera is out of focus?

Looks ok to me. These proofs are rather common an actually go for about half the price of an uncirc. in the same grade.

Or maybe he/she is too enamored with Photo Shop? That pictures does not look unaltered, IMHO.

It looks like a proof Franklin, the mirror effect reflects the camera.

It's just a 57 proof. They must have it at an angle with bad glare/reflection.

It looks polished. I don't think it has any mint luster, a wheel of light, uninterrupted from one end of the coin to another end through the center of portrait.

glare from the camera flash and/or reflection, it is a "normal" proof
