I have not gone through many as of yet. Finished off just over a box so far. Not much of worth in it. It was one of the Distribution Center Wrapper boxes. I usually don't have high hopes with them. Did pull a few wheat ears and a few 40's & 50's Canadians but nothing special. My pile of BU Americans I need to look through is growing. I will save them for later.
Today was bowling league night so I had things I needed to do prior to bowling. I will try and get a good jump on box 2 tonight.

I do not see them drying up to fast in circulation. There are alot of Canadian Cents in circulation and that will not change for quite some time. I guess we will have to wait and see what the retail establishments decide to do with the cent. I know some stores in my local area have stopped taking cents altogether. Not sure if that is actually legal for them to do but I will not argue with them. The cent will remain legal tender it is just that they will no longer produce or distribute them into circulation. It would be interesting if there was a way to track them and see how many have or will in the future be returning for reprocessing.
Just thinking of all the cents that will be returned to the banks after Monday that no one will be able to search is heartbreaking. :)
I guess I better start making a run south of the border and grab boxes of US cents. Quite a few are in the border towns boxes.

Quote: What was the last year that they did copper pennies? For Canadian cents - 1996 is the last year for copper For US cents - 1982 (both copper and zincs were minted in 1982. You can distinguish the two by weighing each. For me...I do not bother with the 1982's and just keep the 1981 and older excluding the 1943's of course.

Well I flew through my two boxes and wish I had more now. My first box was amazing and my second not so much. I will post pics on the cent hunting thread this evening.
Also clad my gf sounds the same as your wife. Happy I have a hobby as long as I don't spend too much. I budget at most 100 dollars a month which I feel is a decent amount.
Do not know what I am switching to next probably nickels have to figure out what to look in those though.
