This is the 25 coins program created by the Japan Mint.
The last coin was release in 2012 (Oita Silver Proof).
Each coin is 1oz proof - a very impressive set IF completed.

It should be noted that while the official mintage of this coin is 100,000, only 10% of that mintage (10,000) will be made available outside of Japan.

Interestingly, the Japan Mint does not sell internationally; so we would have to buy from one of its distributors. I haven't researched to find one in the US yet. However, here's one from Australia that will ship to the US: http://www.eurocollections.com/stor....asp?id=7258

I think we have one member live in Japan. I am wondering if it's possible and or cheaper to acquire the set from Japan instead of through these distributor....

It would be nice to see a complete collection of this series.......

I'm not sure if you refer to me ...
here on auction it is possible to get them starting $90-100 and higher ... I don't see many of these coins so I am sure some of them command higher premiums than others. So, depending on the coin it might be either cheaper or expensive ... sometimes I find ebay prices are lower than local for some items.

I'm for one not a collector of these coins due to premiums.

We have a member in PM section who has showed some of 47 prefecture coins ... don't remember who it was though

P.S.In Japan it is possible to get some rare coins that very reasonably priced (mostly international) ... but I'm far from numismatics and care about metal more than about numismatic value.

Thank you bekiz for your reply.

I guess it's not as popular in the US. I love the designs though.
