I have been stocking away 1982 cents with the hopes of getting a scale to weigh them all out...and that day finally came (thanks cheap scale from Amazon!).

Philadelphia:
Large Date Copper -- 338
Large Date Zinc -- 96
Small Date Copper -- 168
Small Date Zinc -- 91

Denver:
Large Date Copper -- 103
Large Date Zinc -- 5(!)
Small Date [Zinc] -- 51

Of the Denver Large Date Zinc, only two are remotely collectible and have red luster with one of those on a pitted planchet. The other three are absolute junk.

I've still got tons more of these to go through, upwards of a box's worth.
Rest in Peace

Haven't searched them yet, but now that they're separated it'll make it easier. If I find any, this will be the first place to know :D

After plopping each of them down on the scale, you start to recognize the metal sounds better.

Save your scale batteries and some time.
Drop of glue on the zinc one. Tape or glue the straw
dead center on the tongue depressor.

Been checking the 83s, but nothing so far.

After seeing the listing of a BU roll of 1982-D Large Date Zinc in the recent issue of Coins Magazine for $35.00, and the fact that I feel this date and its varieties have always been looked over and written off, that all started my interest for this whole thread. Now that the 82s are all sorted, I'll be checking for the doubled dies eventually...

Grand Totals (including first post numbers) as of today:

Philadelphia:
Large Date Copper - 1,692
Large Date Zinc - 424
Small Date Copper - 171
Small Date Zinc - 94

Denver:
Large Date Copper - 509
Large Date Zinc - 25
Small Date [Zinc] - 57

Again, the Denver LDZs are horribly made with maybe five that I'll end up keeping. The Philly LDZs are much more red, and even though they're pitted, they haven't got that zinc rot going yet. Coppers are always nice, but I don't remember seeing many red Philly SDCs or Denver coppers. There were quite a few that had some wood grain starting though.
