I was checking my circulated Morgan pile for oddities and noticed the mintmark on this 1887-S. It is unusually "blobby" and I wondered if it is perhaps a known VAM. I didn't see any obvious matches on VAMWorld. Anyone have some input on this piece?

I was thinking it may have been a LDS S/S but VAM 2 is the only S/S that appears close. If it were I would think it would be 2A with the damaged denticles. It may just be an unmentioned die state of VAM? I'm stumped..
