I really haven't had much experience with bank crimped rolls. I have always got customer wrapped rolls. Do you guys normally get better results out of customer wrapped rolls or bank rolls?

That depends on what your getting. CWR of halves are the best as far as I am concerned. I will take cents, nickels, and dimes either way.

I normally do pennies and nickels. I am going to try to branch out to dimes. I would love to do half dollars, however my bank can't get them unless a customer brings them in. When a customer does bring them in they go quick. I was wondering about possibly going to other banks and asking. Are they going to charge you anymore than face value for just customer wrapped rolls?

Bassmaster, wherever you have the biggest account I think is the best place to ask for half boxes. But some will do it even if you have only a few hundred in your account.

My experience with every denom says that there is no difference between cwr and machine wrapped.

So it shouldn't be a problem if I go to several banks in town and ask for $50 or $100 in dimes even if I don't have an account there?

I have gotten solid wheat CWR rolls, $25 in cents that were over 95% pre82, I have gotten a solid 64 CWR of halves, I have gotten $40 in nickels from dateless buffalo to early 60's with silver included, I also buy many silver halves/dimes, quarters from teller trays.
Machine wrapped are often the same in average rolls, but without the chance of big scores. Although some people get rare brinks box scores, they are not as common as CWR scores from what I can tell. All those find I have mentioned are from less what most people on here go through in a week.

CWR's are feast or famine, BWR's are steady...

I agree with FadeToBlack. My best nickel roll (with buffalos and a V nickel) was a CWR. When I can find them, I nab them; however, sometimes they're picked over, or are simply "normal" change. Otherwise, I'll do a bank wrapped box at a time and steadily collect keepers and upgrades for my album.

at my bank, CWR are never piked over. You can have them roll the coins if they're separated, and they look like any other bank roll. Guess it's like everything else about CRH, it all depends on location.... and timing... can't forget timing...

My experience is very different, not only on cwr vs bank, but one bank vs another. One of the large national banks has only given up a couple silvers in approximately 30 boxes now. None of them were visibly silver through the plastic wrapper. My conclusion is that someone is pulling the silver prior to it reaching the costumers. Some will argue it doesn't happen but I feel I've searched enough to be confident that silver is being pulled by hand.
As for CWR vs BWR, my experience has been that cwr and smaller banks (that roll there own) have a better chance of hitting multiple silvers in a single box. Also a better chance of getting skunked. Larger bwr seem to be fairly consistent with zero, one, or two silvers. Less chance of catching a big hoard of old coin, likely due to being mixed with the large amount of regular coin that is processed by the couriers.
