I've been looking at modern (1990's+) silver proof coins and the prices seem to be significantly lower to purchase the coins as individuals rather than an original set. Is there something that I am missing here, or once opened do they roughly go down to bullion value? I've picked up a couple $.50 pieces for $9-10 and it seems kind of low.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Wow, that is quite the haircut, but explains why you can purchase the coins so cheap. Thanks for that, I will keep that in mind when looking at coins to buy.

Well... based on my own experience, I can sell individual proof coins better than the set.
