Where can I find a list of ALL coins made. Example when was the Wheat penny stopped and when did the replacement penny start being printed. Sum it all up I am trying to compile a list of every coin made in the US including the die changes and press letters. Example: 1956 Dime printed P and D. Goal is to get one coin for every year and from each press. For pennies, dimes, nickels & quarters. *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

to CCF. Coins are minted not printed. The Red Book is another good source. John1

silver00lt: I think most of the research has been done and published professionally for you. That published research needs to be kept up to date. All you have to do is collect them!
Perhaps you may wish to annotate your collection. That would give your collection an educational value, both for yourself and others to whom you may show your collection to. It would also keep your collection current with the latest information.

jbuck...that was the list I was trying to google...maybe I should try the forum search first instead of google. LOL
denco7 - I am looking forward to it, but also know I may not be able to complete it as a lot of the coins will almost be impossible to locate.
sel - By annotate are you speaking of a brief history? In my log I have the year, location minted, country, coin name & the amount. I do not know why I posted 'printed'. SMH I know better.

I've had good luck so far buying coins off line, but I like the fact of going there and browsing better. :) We only have one coin store by my house. :(

Go to that coin store and see if you can purchase the Red Book by Whitman Publishing. Lots of info in that book. Ignor all prices if you get the latest version of that book since they are massively over done. If you are curious about the many different books on coins, also try the Whitman web site. http://www.whitmanbooks.com Once there request a catalog, it's free.

silver00lt: I annotate my collection on the cardboard 2x2's the same way as you. There are other ways to do this as an adjunct to your collection.
For example, perhaps you may wish may wish to write an illustrated historical narative of your collection, something like a book. A huge amount of extra information can be added, which cannot possibly be noted on the cardboard holder. Such a narrative can be easily updated, as each coin is added to your collection. This approach could provide a full description and record of your collection, as well as gaining a lot of very specific numismatic education for yourself, as it relates to your own collection.

just_carl Hobby Lobby has the Red Book and Blue Book. $4 in price difference...the Blue Book was black and white and less pages. But it looks like I need to get the Red Book. I was going to get a book for prices. Since you said they are over done whats the next best book for pricing? sel - I have the 2x2s number to go with the log. Do not have a history section, but I have included a "notes" for a brief message.
