A better quality photo would be nice but, gun to my head, I'd say it's real. The beard, both right-side legs, the "bubbles" arising in the field under the chest...it all says "yep" to me.

You're giving me more credit than I deserve but, yeah, get it authenticated, especially if it'll give you any recourse with your seller in the unlikely event it's not what it appears to be.

Definetly looks real to me. Not that I'm an expert on this stuff or anything, but the coin looks genuine.

The coin looks good to me. It has all the evidence of genuine 37-D. Also, I have never seen a fake that even made any attempt to create fake diagnostics. The fakes just remove a leg (or in some cases cast a coin without one) and put it on the market. Most people don't know what to look for. Like I said, I'm very confident this piece is real.

The only reason I think it "might be fake". Is because the color. I have seen well made fakes before. But that one does have good details on the buffalo. The letters are not attached to the buffalo. The leg don't look scratched off. The pee is on the ground. So I say it's real maybe. Send it in and you'll know.

Take a look through recent threads and you'll see someone who used electrolysis to restore a corroded buff nickel. The colouring of that is very similar to the colouring of this. Cleaning is always a possibility, as is a poorly-mixed planchet (I've gotten "woody" NICKELS at work!) or even bad photography--it looks to me like this was a scan, which always alters the coin colour (in images, not in-hand).
If the diagnostics are there, I'm going to agree and say "real."
