Hi all, A couple weeks ago I was the victim of fraud. It's embarrassing to be taken advantage of like that. And I was already in the process of selling these before I found out they were fake. Thankfully I was able to realize this scam before anyone sent me money and all sales were cancelled before payments were sent. Here is most of the details surrounding that horrible situation and the outcome along with pictures of the counterfeit silver. Oh no! I've just been scammed into buying fake silver bullionI am also working on editing a video of the counterfeit silver in hopes that more people will be able to avoid being robbed of their hard earned money like I was. Video will be posted soon! Basically if you've bought silver bullion in the past couple months here in New England you should have it looked at by a specialist because this con-artist has been selling a lot of fake bullion.Sincerely, ~JobIII Edited by JobIII 02/05/2013 11:37 pm

Oh jeez... these are all Alibaba/AliExpress fake bars. I've seen more of these than I can stomach in the past few years. The fake Sunshine Mint bars without serial numbers are especially prolific.
You should also get in touch with your local Secret Service Field Office about this.
I'm relieved that you got your money back, though.
Caveat emptor.

From what I've learned. The SS is only involved in cases that involve fake US currency and coins. I don't believe they would be involved in counterfeited silver bullion from private companies.

According to you blog entry, the scammer was also getting ready to offer Morgans and other coins, yes? That would fall under the purview of the SS.

I'm pretty sure that the Trade dollar is fake. But I can't say one way or another about the morgans. That con-artist is milking loads of money off of people so they could all be real to pepper these deals with real coins.

What do you think they're made of? Silver-plated... steel?

A most excellent article on dealing with fraudulent silver bullion sales. Sorry it had to happen, but it ended up providing us with valuable knowledge, so all is not lost. Thank You for sharing what I would have hidden, it took guts.

I wonder if the attorney of this scammer could be disbarred for his actions? Perhaps it might be worth a call to your State Bar association to see if his actions run afoul of the code of conduct that attorneys are required to follow. He might be considered an accessory in this instance.

interesting story: thankyou for your candour.
I would have thought that if the Police investigated this thoroughly, they could find the evidence to disprove his likely contention that he didn't know that what he was selling was fake. They might not get a conviction for every attempted sale.
Secondly, I would report the attorney: clearly, he is a party to the crime.

By the way, I found where those fake bars were sourced from.
Give me an email if you want the info to confirm it, as I'm not going to post that publicly.

That step by step description of what happened was probably hard for you to relive, but thank you so much for sharing, because if I ever buy silver bullion on craigslist in the future, I'll now know how extremely careful I will have to be.

I'm happy to recall the events that went down last month. I mean as long as I can help people to better realize and avoid these types of horrible situations.
On a side note I received a blocked call yesterday, which is how that scammer would sometimes contact me. No message was left, but I was a little concerned that I'd start getting calls from him again. Or worse...

I am sorry you had to go through this. However, giving such a detailed account could be helpful to others who find themselves in a similar situation.
Why do some of you think the lawyer was in on the scam? He gave the money as soon as JobIII presented evidence. It seems like he was just doing his job. Of course, I'm sure he knows his client is a dirt bag...

How sad, there is no law enforcement protection, or response.
I would add more as I am quite disgusted with this non-enforcement of the law, but just re-read the first line and think about it.
