I was going through some junk silver tonight....and I found this. A 1918-D Walker No AW. Does this particular variety carry a premium? I appreciate your input.

A 1918-D in F-12 is better than junk silver IMO. This one has probably been cleaned but not too badly. I wonder how the initials got so weak; it's unlikely they have faded due to wear given their protected location at the rim. I would guess they were worn or polished down on the die itself, or else this is a filled-die situation.

If I had this piece I'd probably list in on ebay, mention the weak/missing AW feature, and let bidders decide what it's worth.

Just looked at this one again under a loupe and its extremely difficult to make out the initials. I have a 29-s that has been attributed No AW and the look is similar. This is also not a series I'm really familiar with, but from what I've read the No AW coins were produced from dies that had been heavily polished....enough to polish down the initials. Is this correct? I think this coin is pretty interesting and am going to set it aside. May try to find someone who is well versed with this series and get an opinion.

Get a recent copy of "The CherryPickers Guide". The only one currently listed is the 45-P
