It looks like a nicely struck BU (except for possibly the "WE". The only thing that I wonder about is that pink color. Pink is not a good color when it comes to bronze. It is quite likely that it was cleaned at one time. I had a Proof 1871 2¢ that was raw and it had a beautiful pink glow to it. I had an ex-grader take a look at it (as recommended by a dealer who also made the same comment) and he said it was polished but might still slab. I got rid of the coin that same day at that show.
Hey Auld, Beautiful coin. I especially like the razor-sharp detail on the reverse wreath. Thanks for sharing! I don't know about the toning. It certainly is attractive, but now I'm wondering if Prethen is correct about the possible cleaning. I for one would be more comfortable buying a coin like this if it were in an NGC or PCGS holder.
