Welcome and good luck with your eCrater store. After being on ebay, you will soon find that sales are much slower at eCrater. No fees there but only a fraction of the sales you would get at ebay. The beauty is, you can leave a listing up as long as it takes for the item to sell and you can post as many photos as you want without charge.

I had a an ecrater store for a brief period. I never sold a single coin. I didn't put anything up of great value, but everything I had was priced at about wholesale. If you just wish to play around, it's probably fine. If you want a viable alternative to ebay, it does not work. I actually never thought the ebay fees were that outrageous. They could be lower (and used to be), but my complaints about that site are much more hinged on safety and buyer abuse. Some seller abuse too. The thing is, I think there are actually very few sellers that are bad, but those sellers create lots of mistrust. In my experience, about 10% of ebay buyers treat that place like it's their own playground and take advantage whenever they can.

i shoulda read the user agreement a little closer about links.ecrater seems mainly useful if you keep your buyers contact info.to send them there.I've recently crashed my bust dime set i'd took 2 yrs to put together for various reasons and as the rest sell puttin what I can into draped and flowing hair coins that I hopefully wont have a need to sell any of for a while.ebay fees are cheap I guess compared to some other venues still they get every 10th coin you sell

I believe ebay is having free listing? Or was that a one time offer? I got a message saying I can list 50 things for free.

non ebay store sellers get 50 free listings every month. Those are just free of insertion fees, you still have to pay final value fees if the item sells.

Yes, it is too bad that the free sites don't get more traffic. I bought a coin on Wensy before with positive results but at that site, you need to price the coin at what you want for it since you are only going to get one bid if that. One issue is that some sellers don't take Paypal so you have to wait till they get your money order to ship it so shipping takes longer.

Quote: Yes, it is too bad that the free sites don't get more traffic. Its a double edged sword. Its nice that the site is free, but at the same time that means they arent going to have the buyer protection that ebay has which keeps away a lot of buyers.

Basebal, as far as I understand it, the protection is pretty similar provided you pay with paypal. I made a purchase through ecrater, which the seller never acknowledged or shipped. I simply opened a claim through paypal, and they refunded my money in a few days. Same process as when filing a claim through ebay.
