i picked this up off the bay for $3.50
i had liked the crustiness from the sellers pics plus the rotated reverse and no one was bidding on it

i cannot quite tell if it's environmental, pvc or some good old fashioned crust

great fingerprint across the obverse at 11:00

should I acetone, verdi care....thoughts?

i would like to say that this coin is SUPER lustrous in hand and has such a thick golden patina that shimmers...I dont want to put a thing on it if it will strip any of that

thanks for looking

Acetone won't take luster or toning away. That looks like onset of PVC contamination and possibly corrosion, hit it with a good soak in clean acetone. I have a feeling the dark spots are there to stay unfortunately.
