I have been finding these while searching large batches of tokens for my interest (car wash tokens). Are they as common as they seem since I found 6 in a short period of time or was I just lucky? Are they common in other denominations?

You were quite lucky. Nice finds. I have no idea how often this error shows up for any coin....but somebody here probably does.

Wow, I have never seen one in the wild. Never. (jealous a little...)
How on earth do these non-round coins even enter circulation?

I will trade for car wash I need. I have no emotional attachment to these but car wash tokens are my passion. I of you out there has something I need and I will gladly trade for it.

Jim, you haven't been here long enough to make a trade. See the Rules. That being said...I wish I did have a car wash token. I never thought about them and I don't think I ever had one. (When I was younger, our local car wash had a ticket that got punched...but no tokens.) But you wrote in a previous post about the Vectorists and I looked them up and thought it was interesting but not my thing. But wait! At the next meeting of our local coin club, my husband (who has only been moderately interested in the coin collection) saw transportation tokens for sale. He bought them all! So thanks for providing a resource for him.

When you do get enough posts, I would definetly be interested in them. I get token now and then with oddball lots. Idk if they are carwash tokens but who knows lol.

My apoligies from breaking the rules. Major learning curve here so I am sorry. My error was not intentional.

They are not all that uncommon, check ebay. The way they got in to circulation is the mint use to put coins in canvas bags, one cent bags were $50. Now the mint puts them in Ballistic Bags that hold something like 50,000 cents. The ones with a full date are worth more then no date and partial dated ones. John1
