Another one of my recent acquisitions. My first Barber key date. I wish the condition was a little better but it's a start. I didn't steal it. I'm in it for 70 dollars. Edited by mds308 02/12/2013 11:13 am

That is a good find.Decent rim detail is hard to find on these coins in low grade, especially on the reverse. It is the one coin needed to finish my low grade set.I have 4 coin shops and two shows a year within an hours drive and still can't locate one I like.

Thanks blackjack,
Like they say: "I'm a Jack of all trades but master at none." I'm still tinkering with the photography. I may get a better camera.

Looks like the camera you are using does a pretty good job. Good sharp and clear closeup. regards coffeecup57

If we keep talking about photography, the moderators may move the thread . Currently, I'm using a small Canon 8 Mega Pixel SD1100is. I started tinkering with more of the settings and have been getting better results. I may get a digital SLR in the near future. Used not new. I'm too frugal to pay retail. I bought the Canon that I use now and paid 30 dollars for it when 8 MP was the highest rating for these cameras.

You have an honest coin. Has been around the block a few times. Those of us who know these Barbers (Log Potato) will tell you that despite the "rough" appearance of the coin it is miles/kilometers ahead of the run-of-the-mill examples out there. Here is my example. The technical grade is XF (no number as it is raw) but it is funky in appearance. Should you ever regret buying your coin, mds, remember me as I have second-guessed myself low these past 25 years.

matthewvincent,
Was your coin cleaned or dipped? The obverese looks monohromatic and the reverse has some toning.

mds, I have no idea if the coin was "monkeyed with." It was purchased circa 1989-1991. I saw this ebay offering and now that it is over I have the results: It sold for $49.00 with free shipping. 11 bids total with 7 unique bidders. At $70 I like your example better!
