I notice the first shots were through the 2x2 plastic window with white all around it, then the after shot has no holder and black background, so I think the color hasn't changed as much as the photos show, the lighting is also bit different in angle so the 2 obv. dings stand out now more in the after shots.
A downside to a surface cleaning on copper, is it will make sure you can now see all those little hairline scratches that were hidden under grime. I see that as well with my 2 centers after I acetone them, at least with the AU coins or low end UNC's, I wouldn't mess with any copper in high grade, as I'd probably screw it up.
But the coin sure looks better after the soak and surface clean. Now you know there is no PVC films or any damaging contaminants on the coin's surface. I always run the q-tip around the rim, thats where I get a lot of green gunk that will spread over time if not caught, a lot of people miss the third side of the coin.
