Does anyone know where I could find a census of National bank notes on line? I know Don Kelly has a book, but I'm not real crazy about spending $77 for it right now. I only have a few, but may look for more. Some get rather pricey... I think there might be a free census out there somewhere, but can't find it.

I use Track and Price, but it is a little more than the Kelly book. However it does update the census of Nationals and shows recent sale prices, very good tool. You can also upgrade to have small size, large size, colonials, and/or fractionals. And they do have a 30 day trial as well.

Sorry to break it to you, whether you use T&P or NBN Census, it's going to cost you a nice chunk of money to subscribe. There are no free sources for this sort of thing.

All 3 sources above are well worth the price of admission.

The online census sites will cost you some bucks. You can get a general idea of values and avalable notes (that have sold) at Heritage's web site for free --- http://www.ha.com ... membership is free.

Is the National Bank Note Census still active? It appears updates haven't appeared for some time on their site.

I'm not a big NBN buyer, but I use my Kelly CD almost every day to check out potential purchases. Best money I ever spent.

I'm like Mr.Frog, in that I don't collect a lot of NBN's. I'm more of a local collector and do a lot of "free" research before pulling the trigger. I have spoken with Sandy (owner of T&P) several times and have given his service a 30 day test ride, but have not have subscribed. I also hear that Kelly does a great job.
Edited to add; Many times, the auction description does a pretty good job describing how many are known, both large and small, and also sometimes mentions the last time a particular example surfaced.

The latest edition of Kelly's book that contains the CD is the 6th. As for the National Bank Note Census website I can't comment on how up to date it is as I am not a member. I considered joining over a year ago but talked myself out of it. If you might consider creating an account with Lyn Knight as they have an auction archive that's free too. http://www.lynknight.com/ ebay sold listings Manifest Auctions has an archive of nationals they've sold http://manifestauctions.com/auction...al-currency/Stacks Bowers also has auction archives -MV
