Tonight I was searching through some rolls of dimes. This was really the first time I seriously hunted dime rolls. I went and got $50 in CWR of dimes along with some penny and nickel rolls. In the second roll, I looked at the edge and saw a silver edge. I figured it would be a Canadian. However, after I looked it was a 1964 D. I thought it was odd to find my first silver dime after only searching 5 rolls. How long did it take you guys to find your first silver?

My first box was a skunk, my second produced 27 keepers. Have yet to beat that box haha.

Great find, and especially only after 5 rolls! I too found my first silver dime from a roll this week, a 1962 D. I had probably searched around $100 worth of dimes to find it so I was pretty excited when I saw it.

Congrats j-win on your first silver too. As excited as I got after finding my one silver, I can't imagine how excited I would be to find 27 keepers. After finding the first silver it was kind of hard to stop. I only expected to open one roll tonight, however, I ended up opening half of them.

I have yet to find one, but I don't normally do dimes. Usually, just nickels and pennies.

Wow Trent C, that's pretty impressive to find your first silver in your first roll. Congrats everyone who recently found your first silver too. Is there anything else I should be keeping besides silver? I normally keep 1965-1970 also.

Just out of curiosity, why do you keep these?

Thanks.

Well, I know it sounds strange to keep clad dimes, but I got into a habit a while back of keeping anything pre 70. I throw them in with my ebay auctions sometimes and try to make solid rolls of one date. Is there anything else that you guys keep that I should out of dime rolls besides silver?

I found my first silver dime today too (1962 Canadian).. The weird thing is that I found it in a roll of pennies!

I've found and kept clipped dimes, chrome, silver, and gold plated dimes, and several S proof cameo clads that are frosty and just beautiful.
As a teen roll hunter in 1980, I don't recall finding silver dimes at all, and we threw back the 40% silver halves even while silver was running up. I've found hundreds of silver dimes in the last couple years though.
