Hello,

This photo is the best I could obtain from another source totally out of my control.

Neither photographic improvements nor a shot of the reverse side are available to better assist us in determining the status of this coin.

Please opine on:

a. what the date really appears to be,

b. the type of error or variety designation present, and

c. what type of retail $ value could be assigned to the coin taking into account the various possibilities on the low and high end etc.

thanks,
mdpmedia

It is an 1877. There is no error that is visible due to the severe wear. I cannot give a good grade/price range without seeing the back.

I can go AG3 Details due to the stronger devices and minor pits and gouges. 1877 without a doubt. Diagnostically, appears genuine.
Value? Your looking at about $300-350

Oh, no error just wear.

1877 no problem, just need to get it slabbed and you be sitting pretty, as it stands raw, not many people would have the confidence in paying that much for one, slabbing makes sense when a coin is more than $200.00 and often counterfeited, like the 1877. Wouldn't put it past people to get fake chinese ones and artificially wear them down to an almost unrecognizable state like yours. At $300+ it's a profitable scam today, be careful.
