1946 Penny "l" Slant Error?

Sleaklight Pillar of the Community United States 827 Posts	Posted 04/23/2007 02:42 am I am mainly into erros and what not and when I went to find some pennies for my 1941-75 whitman folder I came across this 1946 penny. The L in Liberty looks like it is slanted and mising the underscore part of the L. This is the best scan I can get filesize wise Can this be classified as an error or is it common for the 1946 S penny to be like this? Thanks!!! Report this Post to the Staff

Metalman Pillar of the Community United States 7123 Posts	Posted 04/23/2007 1:15 pm The coin appears normal to me ,, many of the 40'S wheaties have a slightly tilted L,, the wide top is either a die chip or a smear from the die slipping slightly , the pic is a little dark to be sure which. coppercoins Pillar of the Community United States 7629 Posts	Posted 04/25/2007 6:41 pm I don't list errors on coppercoins.com, only die varieties - doubled dies, mintmark varieties... What you have is either damage or abrasion from a very worn die. Either way it's not really an error and would command no premium value. Report this Post to the Staff
