OK, I have it right now. The first photos were not right . . . I hate it when that happens. Sorry, guys!

Here's a good one. NGC holder. What do you think?

The scuffs on the neck and chin are indeed present. Not overwhelmingly visible, but are definitely there.

Edit: The scuff on the neck appears to be from contact with a sister coin in the bag, in the roll, whatever. Not a rub. No break in the luster. Indeed, the marks are a bit more lustrous than the surrounding metal. End of Edit

What do you think it graded?

By the way, I got it from a member here. So no fair if you already know this coin! :)

No complaints about the transaction, though, none at all.

AU-58 if the scuff is rub... otherwise MS-65.

Nope, not a rub. Looks (to me) like contact with a sister coin in the bag/roll/whatever.

MS67
Really!!
I feel that they completely blew this one. I am considering sending it in for review.
What are my chances?
Those marks have GOT to keep it from 67 territory eh? They are not imaginary . . . .

I think it's your pictures. This last pic in the slab looks way better than the first pic up above.

I'm not seeing anything wrong with the pics . . . . they capture the coin pretty good.
I can't say that there is anything different on the lower one. Other than it is backed out a bit.
Here is one a bit different. Odd, the fingerprint does not show on this one. But you can see in the earlier pics the big fingerprint behind George's head.

A blown up-in your face type pic can definitely make a good coin look bad.

Raymo, I don't want to offend . . . . . you might want to look away.
New pics, angled to show the GOUGE in the neck and the scrape on the cheek.
Does this look like a 67? I would think those marks would keep it to a 65 tops. What say the wise and exalted crowd?

That cheek hit holds it to a 65 for me... prime focal area... period. I think the luster got them all horned up as it truly is remarkable for a 30's Washington. The neck gouge and hits in the Northeast field also detract in terms of technical grade. Doesn't surprise me coming from NGC with this series. But boy, what a nice coin.

Not so great in hand, ALL I CAN SEE are those marks when I look at the coin.
Aside from that, Mrs Lincoln, how did you enjoy the play?
It is going in for an Appearance Review.

I have the same year coin plus a few more from the 30's by PCGS but without any of the gouges or marks on the faces and mine are no more than MS65's. Yes I do think NGC blew the grading on your coin. Its a 65 at best. First thing you see is the face marks. Still a beautiful coin though. Whats the population on a 67' for that year? There are a few '68's for that year. Your at the $425 mark at that grade for NGC, $500 for PCGS. Here's a jpg of one on collectors corner for sale. No images for the NGC one.

1936-Washington-NGC.

Just my opinions.
