Been staring at this latest purchase for quite some time now, especially at the beads over the head, and comparing it to http://www.anacs.com/contentPages/S...kieSupport=1Maybe my mind messes with me but the date looks 1916-ish... I don't really get the gown-thingy, so if anyone can help, it's be appreciated.

Based on what I can see, it is looking good. The half bead above the head, the single hair curl, weak shield rivets, and the bottom of the robe by the foot all appear to match the diagnostics for a 1916 SLQ. Do you think you could post a picture of the obverse and reverse?

I've been staring at those beads for an hour now and can't find a 1917 that matches those beads Here's the whole coin A hint of a 6 in this pic:

I'm going to go ahead and say 1916 based on doubleeagles comparison photo. Monster of a find! Send it in to be sure!

I see another win in your future. A strong AG-3 IMO, and might make G-4 on a good day. Keep us updated on your plans for this coin.

It's gotta be a 1916; all the markers are correct. ANACS is the most reliable about slabbing dateless 1916 SLQs, but I think you have a good case that there's a readable date there.

I've been wanting to send a few more valuable coin in to NGC through their Office in Germany, but they are under "recontruction" so they don't allow submissions. I can't send them myself since I can't get a temporary export permit...Well I could send them, but then would have to pay a 25% tax on the value of the coins, which I prefer not to do:P
Might just be easier to fly to Paris and walk into the PCGS office with the darn coins

Quote: imageshack strikes again! Sorry, think I uploaded the pic without optimizing them for a certain screen size...or is it that you can't see the pics at all?

This is actually a part of a lot I got. Badly lit pics and so on. A normal lot of G-VF coins. It was mostly Barber quarters and that's why I got the lot, a few seemed to be at least XF. What I paid: about $90
