I found at the shell mart by my house. I thought that this was a very odd coin
What do you think?

Looks interesting. Maybe Double die and some type of lamination error?

I believe that the P error was caused from a filled die. Not that it was filled on this coin, but rather the previous coin/coins, and the extra piece of metal was released on this coin. From the picture there appears to be excess metal in the area, rather than a double strike. this could also explain the lamination error if the coin wasn't struck properly due to the excess metal.

The lamination problem could also have been caused by a build up of lubricant in the press, it happens occasionally. Maybe lubricant was added to try to release the metal which was stuck in the die?

amac44, looks to me like the area in front of the eye/nose was "struck through" gunk. gunk being grease/oil mixed with micro-metal bits. the mint mark "P" is harder for me 'guess, however it could be "chatter striking" chatter striking also refered to as,MDD;mechanical die damage.either the coin or die equipment chattering to leave a second 'impression on the coin. that being after the strike would be considered damage.how ever if it is just die wear the mint mark could end up looking that way too. hard for me to be more presice given the pictures you took. which by the way are indeed quite nice... hopes this is of some 'use' for you.
